Uniting Earth Ministry

What does it mean to live a faithful life in the present context of our changing awareness of the place of human beings within the whole creation?

How do we “confess the Lord in fresh words and deeds” as this new occasion demands? (Basis of Union, paragraph 11)

Uniting Earth started 2017 as an integral part of the Uniting Mission and Education Resourcing Team, after three years as a special project.  Our focus will be on resourcing the church to be agents of reconciliation and renewal of the whole creation, rather than doing this work on behalf of the church.

Jason John and Jessica Morthorpe are the Uniting Earth Ministry Consultants, part of the UME team in the NSW & ACT Synod.

Uniting Mission & Education is an arm of the Uniting Church in Australia, NSW/ACT Synod. UME staff are here to assist the Church to provide education, theological insight, strategy, research and resources for leadership, discipleship, ministry and mission to serve Christ who rules and renews the Church and seeks the reconciliation of creation.

Our approach is to:
Encourage a creative and pioneering spirit; contextualise; be a prophetic voice; model what we are about; engage in reflective practice.
