Hearing Earth's Story

We will soon have the videos from key presenters available here.

This year the NSW/ACT Uniting Church Synod gathers to "tell our story."  What better way to prepare for that than to hear, remember, and share the story of the Earth on which we live, and of which we are a part?

You don't have to be a member of the UC to attend, all people of good will are very welcome!

Join us from 10am at Pitt St Uniting Church (map).  Come to whatever parts of the day call to you.

Please bring a "dollar note" donation for the day, to cover venue and refreshment costs.

A rough program, subject to change, is:

Pre-Synod Eco Day

10:00 Devotion

What makes us, us?

10:10 What's your story?

We are invited to share our stories of Earth and our place on it with other attenders.

10:40 Morning tea provided

Uniting Earth will cater, so we can continue to commune and conversation together

The Uniting Church fully embraces the leadership of women and men.  It is in Covenant with the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress.  It is a multicultural church.  How did this come about?  How true is it?  What can the story behind including these aspects of our life into the core of our story as church tell us about the challenges of including our story as Earthlings, at this Kairos moment in the Earth’s ecology? (more details)

12:30 Lunch

Please bring money for lunch at the Upper Room, just down the road, 222 Pitt St.   http://new.upperroomcafe.com.au/

4:30 Ecopella

Be inspired and entertained by Sydney's local eco choir (and perhaps the world's only one).

"Ecopella is an environmental choir that sings about the beauty of our world and the struggle to protect it from exploitation and degradation. The choir "causes harmony to the environment" by providing activists and audiences with topical a cappella singing at a high standard. Our strong environmental message encourages positive change in people's thoughts and actions, and we offer support to a wide variety of green organisations."  website

5:00 Share dinner and fellowship at a nearby restaurant :)

Wrap up our day of story sharing and strategising with more story telling and strategising- over more food!  Venue TBA

7:00 Induction of the new Moderator.

We will make sure Synod delegates and anyone else interested will have time to get to our new Moderator's induction.
